J&K Imposes Complete Restriction On Non-Essential Movement From 9 pm To 6 am

Mumbai: Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday imposed a complete ban on non-essential movement in the Union Territory from 9 pm to 6 am.

“There will be a complete ban on non-essential movement from 9 pm to 6 am throughout the Union Territory (UT) till further orders,” an official statement said.

The Union Territory reported 418 new cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours and out of these 418 new cases, 311 were reported from the Jammu division while 107 were reported from the Kashmir division.

The union territory currently has 1,819 active COVID-19 cases – 894 in the Jammu division and 925 in the Kashmir division.

Meanwhile, India on Wednesday confirmed the first death due to the Omicron version of COVID-19.

Addressing the press conference, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal, described it as an Omicron related death in Rajasthan.

“He was an elderly person. The person is reported to have co-morbidities, like diabetes among others,” he added.
