Mumbai: Hours after switching from the Congress to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jitin Prasada was welcomed by former aide Jyotiraditya Scindia, who joined the BJP last year.
Talking to reporters, Scindia said, “He is like my younger brother and I welcome him to the BJP.”
Earlier in the day, Prasad, a former MP from Dharhura in Uttar Pradesh, joined the BJP at the party headquarters in the presence of Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
This comes ahead of the all-important Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections to be held next year.
Prasada started his career with Indian Youth Congress as a general secretary. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2004 for the first time. He was also a minister in the UPA government at the Centre.
