Karnataka’s BJP Yuva Morcha Worker Hacked To Death In Dakshina Kannada

Mumbai: A BJP Yuva Morcha worker, Praveen Nettaru, was hacked to death by two bike-borne assailants on Tuesday night in Bellare village in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district, police said.

Praveen Nettaru, who was the district secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha, was murdered in Ballare at around 8 pm on Tuesday night. The 32-year-old had closed his poultry shop Akshay Poultry Farm and was returning it when his assailants attacked him with an axe.

Police said Nettaru tried to escape and ran but collapsed after suffering a head injury. The local people immediately informed the police, who reached the spot and took Netaru, lying in a pool of blood, to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The motive behind the murder is not yet known.

Dakshina Kannada Rural district superintendent of police Hrishikesh Bhagwan Sonawane told news agency PTI that the investigation is on, though no success has been found so far. The police are probing from different angles, including the attackers from the neighbouring state of Kerala.

Four police teams have been constituted to nab the assailants.

Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai condemned Nettaru’s killing and promised proper punishment to the culprits.

“The barbaric killing of party activist Praveen Nettaru from Sullia, Dakshina Kannada, is condemnable. The perpetrators of such a heinous act will be arrested soon and punished under the law. May Praveen’s soul rest in peace, may god bless his family with the strength to bear this pain,” he wrote in Kannada on Twitter.

Meanwhile, BJP workers staged a protest in Bellare on Tuesday night following the incident, demanding justice.
