Kartarpur Corridor: Would Wait And See How Pakistan Keeps It Commitment, India On Terror Threat

Mumbai: India has confirmed that Pakistan has assured the security of the pilgrims in the opening ‘jatha’ to Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib through the Kartarpur corridor.

Pakistan has assured the safety of pilgrims. India had asked Pakistan to take care of the safety of the pilgrims. No Khalistani group and any anti-India activity should be allowed. There should be no embarrassment for India, ”government sources told ANI.

The development comes after Pakistan released a video on the Kartarpur corridor on Wednesday, showing Khalistani separatist leaders killed during Operation Bluestar in 1984.

Sharing the specific terror threat with Pakistan, India said it would wait and see how Pakistan keeps its commitment.

Government sources said that India has explicitly asked Pakistan to provide the highest level of security to the visiting VVIPs and pilgrims as the threat of anti-India activities by the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) is a matter of concern for India.

On the other hand, India alleged that Pakistan refused its request to allow the advance team to review the arrangements and protocol in Kartarpur. “Pakistan has only allowed Indian High Commission officials to visit the site,” it said.

“Several prominent dignitaries are traveling as part of inaugural ‘Jatha’. However, Pakistan has not allowed any advance team from India to visit Kartarpur Sahib to confirm the arrangements made,” sources added.
