Kashmir Situation Is Dangerous, No Country Except China To Back Pakistan Over Kashmir Issue At UNSC Meet

Mumbai: Although a closed-door meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is going on, reports suggest that Pakistan has been isolated before the meeting begins and no member other than China will return Pakistan to the Kashmir issue.

While China expressed “serious concern” over the current situation at the current National Security Council (UNSC) meeting in Kashmir and said the situation in the state was “grave and dangerous”. The Chinese diplomat at UNSC said that such unilateral practices [as practiced by the Indian government] were “invalid”.

Addressing a press conference, China also said that India had violated the bilateral agreement to “maintain peace in border areas” by the Constitution amendment.

The Chinese envoy said, “The situation is already very tense and dangerous [in Kashmir]. India has violated the bilateral agreement to maintain peace in the border areas. Apparently, the constitutional amendment made by India has led to India’s Has changed the status quo.”

Meanwhile, India has already made it clear that its move to scrap the provisions of Article 370 to revoke the status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating into Union Territories was completely an internal matter.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the  United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi welcomed the meeting at the UNSC on the issue of Kashmir and said the country was “grateful to China for calling this meeting”. Maleeha Lodhi also said that the “voice of Kashmiri people was heard today”.

“The voice of the Kashmiri people has been heard today. They are not alone, their voices have been heard. This is an international dispute. We are grateful for the 15 members of UNSC. We are ready for a peaceful settlement of J&K. It nullifies that J&K is an internal matter of India. The Chinese ambassador emphasized on Human Rights situations. This is not the first and last step,” she said.
