Kazakhstan Plane Crash: 14 Killed As Bek Air flight Crashes During Take-Off Near Almaty airport

Mumbai: Around 14 people were killed and several others sustained injuries after a plane carrying 93 passengers and five crew members crashed near Almaty airport in Kazakhstan on Friday.

According to the Civil Aviation Agency of Kazakhstan, the Beck Aeroplane “lost altitude during takeoff and smashed through a concrete fence before hitting a building”. In a statement posted on social media, officials at Almaty International Airport confirmed that at least 14 people were killed at the crash site, while 22 others were seriously injured and were taken to two hospitals.

Airport officials said a special commission is investigating the circumstances for the fatal incident. Images posted on social media show several rescue personnel digging through the wreckage of the Beck Aeroplane.

According to Flightview.com Flight Tracker, a Fake 100 aircraft from Beck Air departs Almaty at 7:05 am local time (01:05 GMT) and departs at the capital Nur-Sultan (also known as Astana) was 40pm on Friday (02:40 GMT).

In a statement published on social media, President Qasim-Jomart Tokayev expressed condolences to the friends and families of those killed in the accident. “Assistance will be provided to all injured people. All those responsible will be punished severely according to the law,” the Kaz Information News Agency told the president in the Kazakh language.
