Kejriwal Requests All CMs To Send Oxygen To Delhi ‘If They Have Spare’

Mumbai: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday wrote a letter to his counterparts in other states and union territories to send the surplus of oxygen they may have to the Capital as the city faces an acute shortage to treat critically ill Covid-19 patients.

“I am writing to all CMs requesting them to provide oxygen to Delhi if they have spare. Though Central govt. is also helping us, the severity of corona is such that all available resources are proving inadequate,” he wrote on Twitter

Delhi, which is currently the most affected city, has been reporting over 20,000 cases daily for the last few days. On Friday, it recorded the highest number of 348 deaths in a single day. There were also 24,331 new coronavirus cases in the city.

Delhi’s over 90,000 active cases are exerting tremendous pressure on its health infrastructure. Massive shortages of medical oxygen, medicines and intensive care beds have been reported in the city.

Several big and small hospitals treating Covid patients in Delhi have said their oxygen supplies are dangerously low.
