Kerala Extends Lockdown Till June 16; Complete Lockdown On June 12, 13

Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases, Lockdown In Kerala Extended Till May 23

Mumbai: The lockdown in Kerala has been extended till June 16. The state government also announced a complete lockdown on 12 and 13 June.

“Stores selling essential commodities, raw materials for industries (including packaging), construction materials and banks will continue to function,” the Kerala CMO said.

Earlier, the state government had extended the lockdown till June 9.

The move comes at a time when several states, including the worst-affected states like Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and others, are easing existing restrictions to facilitate a return to normalcy.

On Sunday, the southern state recorded 14,672 new coronavirus cases and 227 related deaths, taking the total caseload in the state to 26.03 lakh. So far 9,946 people have lost their lives due to this deadly disease.
