Mumbai: Batting first KXIP started off slow as they lost their inform batsman Gayle in powerplay itself scored 30 runs of 22 balls whereas KL Rahul was building his inning slowly.
Meanwhile, middle order again failed to score runs for their team. On the other hand David Miller played good innings of 40 runs off 27 balls whereas Rahul hit his fourth fifty of the season but both of them failed to convert it into big score. Which resulted KXIP were short of 20 to 30 runs.
KXIP innings witnessed small cameo of captain R Ashwin, scored 17 runs of just 4 balls due to which his team reached a defendable score of 182 runs with the loss of 6 wickets.
For RR Jofra Archer took 3 wickets in his four over spell following Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaydev Unadkat provided 1 wickets each.
Chasing the target of 183 runs started of well but lost wicket of dangerous batsman Jos Buttler at 4th over of the innings, meanwhile opener Rahul Tripathi scored first fifty of the season but again failed to reach out big score.
Whereas Sanju Samson failed score for his team as he lost his wicket at a early stage Ajinkya Rahane tried to build the innings, which brought RR back in game. But KXIP bowlers didn’t failed to give there 100 per cent in the game due to which RR lost there wickets on a continue basis.
Ajinkya lost his wicket when his team needed the most, Binny played well 29 runs of 10 balls but if was late RR managed only 170 runs. KXIP won the match by 12 runs.
It was gaming changing moment for KXIP when captain R Ashwin scored 17 runs of their innings last over which helped his team to win this match.
For KXIP the debutant Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets in his 4 over spell R Ashwin and Mohammed Shami provided 2 wickets their side.
