Kiren Rijiju Takes Charge As Mos For Sports And Youth Affairs

Mumbai: In a recent development, Kiren Rijiju takes charge as Minister of State (Mos) (Independent charge) of the ministry of Youth Affairs and sports.

He was quoted by ANI news agency saying, “I would like to thank Narendra Modi for giving me this responsibility. I would also say that the minister is not everything, it is team work which is essential. This is the ministry in which we can galvanize youth and use youth power.”

Kiren Rijiju is considered the face of the Bharatiya Janata Party in North East India. He served as a member of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission from 2000 to 2005, at the age of 29 years. Kiren Rijiju is the most prestigious political leader of Arunachal Pradesh and North East India in recent times; They are often known as “the voice of North East India”. He sometimes writes articles on security and socio-economic issues.

During 2004-09, Kiren Rijiju was reviewed by his colleagues in the Treasury Bench based on the high benchmark in the debate, discussion and decoration as one of the top five opposition MPs and LK Like kept among the legends. “This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to youth through sports. Improving India’s performance in the Olympics will be my target as it one of the huge aspects of sports,” he further said.

In the 2014 general elections, Kiran Rijiju was again elected as MP in the 16th Lok Sabha, who represented Arunachal Pradesh constituency. Kiren Rijiju defeated Tikam Sanjay of Indian National Congress by a difference of 43,738 votes. Immediately he got a place in the list of 45 Best Council Members of Narendra Modi.

“Working for the last five years in the Home Ministry was a wonderfull experience especially under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajnath Singh. This time I have been given youth and affairs as well as the minority affairs, which is a different ballgame altogether,” he further added.
