Kohli Becomes First Player To Win 50 International Matches In Each Format

Mumbai: Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Monday became the first player to register 50 international wins in each format of the game. Kohli achieved the feat after beating New Zealand by 372 runs in the second Test of the two-match series at the Wankhede Stadium here on Monday.

With this win, Team India has once again come to No. 1 in the ICC Test Rankings. The win over New Zealand also means India sealed the two-match series 1-0, and Kohli’s team will now move to South Africa for three Tests and three ODIs, starting December 26.

“Congratulations @imVkohli. The first player with 50 international wins in each format of the game,” BCCI tweeted.

Resuming Day 4 at 140/5, overnight batsmen Rachin Ravindra (18) and Henry Nicholls were able to add a total of 22 runs before Jayant Yadav scored the former and the visitors were still staring at the barrel. 378 runs were also needed. Win by just four wickets.

In his very next over, Jayant Yadav dismissed Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee and it looked like the hosts would finish the match before the lunch break on Day 4.

The last two wickets also fell sharply and eventually bowled out New Zealand for 167 runs to give the hosts a 372-run win.
