K’taka Woman Files Complaint To Get Back Child She Sold For ₹5,000

The woman sold her baby to a nurse in district hospital

Mumbai: A woman in Karnataka, Renuka Kamble has filed a complaint with ChildLine and Police asking them to find her child which she had sold earlier to a nurse. The woman told police that a nurse in the district hospital had convinced her to sell her child for Rs.5000.

She delivered the baby to the district hospital on August 19. Renuka told Kasturi, a nurse about her financial problems at her home. Kasturi advised her that there are people ready to buy the child if she was not ready to take care of the baby. On August 26, Renuka gave the baby to Kasturi’s husband Manjunath and received Rs.5000.

A few days later she regretted the decision and decided to get the baby back. She went to the district hospital and asked the nurse to return her baby. When the nurse denied it, they both got into an argument. Later, she filed a case with ChildLine and Karnataka police. Initially, she didn’t mention the sale but later opened it during the interrogation. ChildLine is an emergency phone service for children in distress or danger.

Police have registered a case against Kasturi, Manjunath and another man. All three are in police custody, however, the police have not been able to track the baby yet.
