Mumbai: Mumbaikars have witnessed a heavy downpour for more than seven days and also have suffered a lot due to waterlogging. The heavy rains have also led to an increase in the water levels of the city. It is suggested that the water levels in lakes have raised up to 92%. The city’s water stock has increased to 13,25,904.

According to BMC data, the total water stock in the seven lakes that supply drinking water to Mumbai is 91.61 per cent.

On Sunday the Santacruz observatory of India Meteorological department Mumbai recorded 2374.2 mm of cumulative rainfall.

Though the rainfall picked up late this year, July had brought in heavy downpours, a storm like situations and flooded the city regions.

The civic body had imposed a 10 per cent cut in the water supply and 15 per cent in timings since November 2018 after water stock in the lakes that had depleted earlier due to insufficient rainfall in the catchment areas last year.

The civic body in July this year decided to withdraw the water cut after reviewing the water stocks in all the seven lakes and sufficient rainfall.
