Leaders Including Amit Shah, Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi Pay Tributes To General Bipin Rawat

Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and others paid tributes to Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat at his residence in Delhi on Friday.

CDS General Rawat, along with his wife and 11 others, died in an IAF helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor.

Rawat had taken a flight from Delhi to Sulur earlier in the day and there were nine people on that flight. Five more were involved in the flight to Sulur.

According to passenger details, besides Rawat and his wife, Brigadier LS Lidder, Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, NK Gursewak Singh, NK Jitendra Kr, L/Naik Vivek Kumar, L/Naik B Sai Teja and Hav Satpal were travelling in the Mi-17VH chopper.

Rawat had taken over as India’s first chief of defence staff (CDS) on December 31, 2019, after serving as the army chief for a full three-year term.
