Lockdown : FIR Against 4 In UP For Spreading Rumours On Social Media

Mumbai: An FIR was lodged against four people, including Allahabad University’s alumni association president Richa Singh, for spreading rumours on social media platforms over the availability of buses in several districts amid the lockdown ANI reported.

Colonelganj police said in a statement, “An FIR has been filed against Richa Singh, Neha, Akhilesh and Anand. On Saturday, these people wrote on Facebook and other social media sites that buses will be available for Azamgarh and other districts at 6 am on Sunday.”

“The matter came to the notice of the police late Saturday and people started gathering at the bus stand on Sunday morning,” it said.

Police said the allegation was that on Saturday it was written on Facebook and other social sites that buses would leave for Azamgarh and other districts at 6 am on Sunday.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had earlier reported a total of 1024 confirmed COVID-19 cases in India and 27 deaths due to the deadly virus.
