Lok Sabha Passes Farm Laws Repeal Bill Amid Opposition Protest To Discuss Bill

Mumbai: Lok Sabha on Monday passed Farm Laws Repeal Bill, 2021 to repeal three farm laws against which the farmers are protesting around Delhi for over a year.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar tabled the bill amid sloganeering by Opposition MPs

Soon after the winter session of Parliament began today, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon following sloganeering by the opposition members.

After the restoration of the lower house, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar introduced the ‘Agriculture Laws Repeal Bill, 2021’. After this, the bill was passed in the house amid uproar by opposition MPs.

Leader of Congress party in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury demanded a discussion on the bill in the House. Following the passage of the bill, the Lok Sabha was again adjourned till 2 pm amid uproar by the opposition members.

Three ‘Agriculture Laws Repeal Bill 2021’ were circulated among the Rajya Sabha members on Friday.

In an address to the nation on 19 November, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the repeal of three central agricultural laws on the day of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

The Union Cabinet had approved the bill last week. The winter session of Parliament is scheduled to end on 23 December.
