LPG Price Hike: Commercial Gas Cylinder Price Hiked By Rs 43, To Cost Rs 1,736 In Delhi

This is the second hike since September 1 when the prices of commercial cooking gas cylinders were raised by Rs 75

Mumbai: Oil & gas marketing companies raised the price of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs 43.50, effective immediately. The price of domestic LPG cylinders remains unchanged.

The price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 1736.50 in the national capital, Delhi. Earlier, it was retailed at Rs 1,693 before the price hike in Delhi. Also Read: Petrol, Diesel Prices Hit All-Time Highs As Rates Hiked For 2nd Day In A Row

This is the second hike since September 1 when the prices of commercial cooking gas cylinders were raised by Rs 75.

As per the Indian Oil website, the cost of a 19-kg commercial cooking gas cylinder in Kolkata reached Rs 1805.50 on Friday.

It is to be noted that government provides 12 domestic LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg each per household at subsidised or below-market rates. However, citizens have to bear the full of cost if their consumption is more than 12.

Since May 2020, the monthly price rise has effectively eliminated any form of subsidy shifting the entire burden to consumers.

Barring a few far-flung areas, which get a small portion of freight subsidy, the price of subsidised and non-subsidised LPG in major cities is almost at par.

The retail selling price of domestic gas was ₹410.5 per 14.2-kg cylinder on March 1, 2014. The price of domestic cooking gas has more than doubled in the last seven years.
