LS Polls: 23 Percent Polling Till Noon In Puducherry

Mumbai: In Puducherry, a turnout of 23 per cent was recorded in the voting till noon on Thursday for the Lok Sabha, which is a fight between ruling Congress and Opposition AINRC.

The main battle for the parliamentary seat from the Union Territory is that of the ruling Congress candidate V. Vaithilingam, a former Assembly Speaker and Opposition AINRC’s candidate is Narayanasamy.

AINRC candidate is a doctor-turned-politician, while actor-politician Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Nidhi Maiam has made former AIADMK MLA MAS Subramanian a candidate from the seat.

In Puducherry and its Karikal, outer areas of Mahe and Yanam, there is a Lok Sabha seat together and a total of 9,73,410 voters.

The officials said, that out of 970 polling stations spread across the Union Territory, 222 were considered sensitive and 25 polling stations were considered important
