LS Polls: 24.47 Per Cent Voter recorded In Maharashtra

Mumbai: An official said that in the 10 constituencies in Maharashtra, 21.47 per cent of the turnout was recorded till 11 o’clock. Polling was going on in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday.

According to the state election office, in the Parbhani Lok Sabha constituency, 26.17 per cent of the voting took place in four hours of polling from 7 am on Tuesday, while 24.4 per cent of the voters in Nanded voted.

In addition, Hingoli recorded 24.08 per cent voting, followed by Latur-23.14 per cent, Akola -21.03 per cent Osmanabad -20.09 per cent, Buldhana-20.49 per cent, Amravati-20.06 per cent, Beed-18.94 per cent and Solapur-16.50 per cent.

In Nanded, 78 electronic voting machines (EVMs) had complaints of malfunction.

A total of 179 candidates are in the fray in 10 constituencies

There are 36 candidates in Beed constituency, while 10 candidates are contesting from Latur.

The main candidates in the field are senior Congress leaders and former Chief Ministers Ashok Chavan and Sushil Kumar Shinde, who is contesting from Nanded and Solapur seats respectively.
