Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath In Trouble As SIT Reopens 1984 Sikh-Riots Case

Mumbai: After Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram, now it’s time for Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath to put behind the bars linking to a case back in 1984.

Kamal Nath has been accused of anti-Sikh riots which took place back in 1984 where a witness alleged the involvement of senior Congress leader Kamal Nath.

Meanwhile, the case has been reopened following the orders of Union Home Ministry. This comes after Kamal Nath’s nephew Rahul Puri was arrested in connection with the AgustaWestland case.

Kamal Nath, along with the party’s Delhi leaders Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar, were accused of instigating crowds in 1984 after the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her bodyguards.

Sukhbir Singh Badal (SAD) a political party has accused Kamal Nath of participating in the riots outside Gurudwara Rakabganj in the national capital.

The Akali Dal, which is a BJP ally, said the government has met their long-standing demand and called for Kamal Nath’s resignation.

“A big Victory for @Akali_Dal_ SIT Opens case against @OfficeOfKNath for his alleged involvement in 1984 Sikh genocide,” Akali Dal leader Manjinder S Sirsa said in a tweet.

“Reopening of the case against Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath in the #1984sikhgenocide is a victory for the Sikhs. This is the result of our sustained efforts to reopen cases wrongfully deemed as solved. Now, Kamal Nath will pay for his crimes,” union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal tweeted.

We demand that Congress president immediately take resignation of Kamal Nath and oust him from his post so that the Sikhs get justice, Sirsa told ANI.
