Mumbai: In another shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two brothers on various occasions in the last month in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district, PTI reported.
“Both the accused have been arrested. One of the accused Akash Sanjay Karimore (27) took the girl to Gangapur Takalghat village here last month on the pretext of marriage and allegedly raped her there,” PTI quoted police officials saying.
“The two accused had placed the girl at their maternal uncle’s house in the village, while she stated that she was an orphan. According to police, the girl’s parents are divorced and her mother, who works as a laborer, lives in Tembri,” officials said to PTI.
PTI further revealed that the girl lived with a relative in Lakhani village in Bhandara district of the neighborhood, where she was studying in a school. During the Diwali holidays, the girl visited her mother in Tembhari village where she came in contact with Akash Karimore and the two got into a relationship.
After the accused took her with him on the pretext of marriage without telling anyone, the girl’s relatives began a search and searched her in Gangapur Talkatgha village last week. The officer said that they later brought the girl to Tembhari village, after which the minor lodged a police complaint against both the accused.
The two men were subsequently arrested and booked under Indian Penal Code sections for rape and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he added.
