Maha: 608 New COVID-19 Cases In Thane, 10 More Die

Mumbai: An official said that the COVID-19 tally in the Thane district of Maharashtra was 2,12,129 in addition to 608 new cases.

He said that 10 people died due to COVID-19 in the district on Sunday, taking the number to 5,352.

Of the total coronavirus cases in the district, Kalyan city recorded the maximum number of 50,193, followed by Thane city-46,839, Navi Mumbai-44,666, and Mira Bhayander-22,677.

Among the fatal incidents, Thane city has so far recorded 1,152 deaths, Kalyan-1,005, Navi Mumbai-905 and Mira Bhayander-721.

The official said the civilian boundaries of Bhiwandi, Ambarnath, and Badlapur and Thane villagers had not reported any COVID-19 deaths on Sunday.

So far, the district has 9,342 active cases, while 1,97,435 patients have been recovered, he said. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the district is 93.07 percent, while the death rate is 2.52 percent, he said.

The active cases comprise 4.40 percent of the total cases reported in the district, he added.

An official from neighboring Palghar said the district has so far reported 40,935 coronavirus cases and 973 deaths due to the infection.
