Maha Cabinet Portfolios: Ajit Pawar Could Get Finance, Aditya Thackeray Environment And Tourism

Congress also wants an agricultural portfolio, but the Shiv Sena is not willing to give it

Mumbai: On 30 December, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expanded his cabinet to include 36 new ministers. But the portfolios are yet to be decided as marathon talks between the three parties fail to achieve any outcome.

However, the portfolio will be decided by Thursday as names for potential ministries are coming up.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is likely to be assigned the Finance Ministry, and Cabinet Minister Aditya Thackeray may get the environment and tourism department in the newly formed coalition government, the report said.

Both men were sworn in with 34 others as ministers in Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s government this week.
Aaditya Thackeray, 29, is the chief minister’s son.

9. Balasaheb Thorat, Congress – Revenue
10. Ashok Chavan, Congress – PWD
11. Amit Deshmukh, Congress – School Education or Power
12. Nitin Raut, Congress – Wants Power
13. Yashomati Thakur, Congress – Woman and Child Development
14. Nawab Malik, NCP – Minority Affairs
15. Jitendra Awhad, NCP – Housing

The Congress, one of the three parties in Uddhav’s alliance, has asked the Shiv Sena to hand over the Road Development Corporation of Maharashtra to Ashok Chavan.

Congress also wants an agricultural portfolio, but the Shiv Sena is not willing to give it.

The NCP has 12 cabinet ministers and four Ministers of State, the Shiv Sena has 10 cabinet ministers and four MoS while Congress has 10 cabinet ministers and two MoS. The NCP has bagged important portfolios of Home and Finance.
