Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray Imposes Curfew In Entire State

Mumbai: Amid Coronavirus Pandemic, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Monday imposed curfew in the entire state.

At least three people have died in Maharashtra while positive cases shot up to 89 on Monday. Among the new COVID-19 positive cases, 14 are from Mumbai and one from Pune, making the densely populated Mumbai-Pune belt as a critical area in the spread of coronavirus.

He also appealed to citizens to stay at home for their own safety in the wake of COVID-19.

Despite the implementation of Section 144 CRPC in the state, many people appeared on the roads on Monday, while many main roads were filled with vehicles.

In view of this, Thackeray said, “People should take this war against COVID-19 seriously. Section 144 of CrPC is invoked so that essential services continue to operate while the rest of the services are suspended till March 31. People should not violate rules by crowding the streets.”

All district borders will be sealed in Maharashtra in the wake of the rapid spread of novel coronavirus, added Thackeray.

Points from CM Uddhav Thackeray’s address:

  1. All District borders in the state sealed. In Pvt vehicles, driver plus 2, In auto driver plus 1 allowed but only during an emergency.
  2. There’s a statewide curfew now. Have asked PM to shut domestic air services.
  3. No one allowed in any temple, mosque, Dargah, or church. Except for the pujari, Moulvi or the father who perform religious services at these places.
  4. More than 4-5 will not be allowed to congregate at any place in the state.
  5. This is temporary, and during this time, essential services, Kirana, medical shops, bakery, animal food stores shall be open.
