Maha Health Minister Rajesh Tope Urged Citizens To Strictly Follow COVID19 Guidelines During Ganesh Chaturthi

Mumbai: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has urged the people of the state to strictly follow the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government in view of Ganesh Chaturthi festival as there is a possibility of transmission of large gatherings to other states.

“During Ganeshotsav celebrations, everyone should follow COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government. The gathering of crowds leads to an increase in the possibility of the spread of infection. This has been seen in other states.

“The number of patients has increased in Kerala due to the crowds during the Onam festival. In Maharashtra, there are 4 to 5 districts including Pune where the number of COVID-19 patients is high,” Tope said on Tuesday.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has already appealed to political parties to stop agitations, meetings and other events to avoid crowds.

“We may celebrate the festival later. Let us give priority to the life and health of our citizens. The situation may get out of hand given the spike in daily cases,” Thackeray said.
