Maharashtra Cabinet Passes Ordinance To Reduce School Fees By 15%

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cabinet has passed an ordinance to slash school fees by 15% for the current academic year across all education boards.

” Maharashtra cabinet today decided to slash school fees by 15 per cent for this academic year. A detailed order of this decision will be issued soon,” the state’s School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said.

She said that this decision has been taken on the lines of the Rajasthan government. The parent body has been demanding some relief from the state government in the matter of reduction in school fees in view of the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools are closed in Maharashtra amid fears of a pandemic and a possible third wave. “Schools affiliated to various education boards, including Maharashtra Board, have earlier informed the state government that they will follow the rules for reduction of fees.

The government order will cover various issues and intricacies to avoid any confusion among the parents and school management,” the minister added.
