Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Granted 10% Quota To EWS In Jobs, Education

Mumbai: In recent development, Maharashtra governement has announced to grant 10 per cent reservation in jobs and education to those who are economically weak in the state.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted a graphic saying that families, whose collective annual income is less than Rs 8 lakhs – through sources like farming, salaries, business-industry – in this case financially backward will be considered.

“Maharashtra Cabinet 10 per cent reservation for the economically poor in Maharashtra,” Fadnavis said on Twitter.

Whereas the current reservation level in the state is 68 percent and after the decision to give EWS quota, the figure will increase to 78 percent.

According to Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar “The (Maharashtra) Cabinet has decided to give 10 per cent quota to those who are financially weak, from any caste or religion, in education and jobs.”

According to the graphic posted by Fadnavis on the micro-blogging site, 10 percent seats / posts will be available for economically poor in the recruitment for admission in government institutions and educational institutions.

It also states that the above percentage posts will be reserved in government establishments, semi-government establishments, corporations / urban governance agencies, rural local government agencies and authorities.
