Maharashtra Congress Protests Against Fuel Price Hike

Mumbai: The Congress on Monday staged a protest in Pune, Maharashtra against the hike in petrol and diesel prices across the country.

ANI quoted Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat saying, “Protests are happening all over the country today. When petrol diesel prices rise, it affects the common man, today, when the common man is already in problem due to coronavirus, the government is putting another burden on them by increasing petrol and diesel prices.”

With the increase in fuel prices, petrol prices stood at Rs 87.27 / litre (an increase of Rs 0.17), and diesel prices stood at Rs 77.71 / litre (an increase of Rs 0.24) in Pune, according to a price notification of state oil marketing companies on Monday. Congress has termed the hike in petrol and diesel prices as “unjust” and “thoughtless”, and urged the central government to withdraw the increase with immediate effect and bring the benefits of lower oil prices directly to the people.
