Maharashtra Reports 198 New Omicron Cases, 190 Found In Mumbai Alone

Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 198 new cases of the Omicron variant on Thursday, including 190 in Mumbai alone, the state health department said in a release.

The number of cases of this latest coronavirus variant reached 450 in the state. A 52-year-old man with a travel history to Nigeria who died of a heart attack on December 28 had tested positive for Omicron, but the death was not related. Do it with the transition, the release said.

The patient was admitted to Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. He said that he also had diabetes for the last 13 years.

It said, “This patient died of non-Covid causes. Incidentally, today’s National Institute of Virology report shows that he was infected with Omicron virus.”

Of the 198 omicron cases reported by the NIV during the day, only 30 have a recent international travel history.

Four Omicron cases were reported in Thane city, while Satara, Nanded and the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations reported one case each.
