Maharastra Government To Organize ‘Asthi Kalash Rally’ For Farmers Who Lost Lives In Lakhimpur Violence

The MVA government will also support farmers to hold a rally in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan on Sunday, without any political person sharing the stage

Mumbai: Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik on Wednesday said that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra would organise ‘Asthi Kalash rally’ on Saturday, for the farmers who lost their lives in Lakhimpur Kheri.

While addressing the press conference, Malik said, “On November 27, we will organise ‘Asthi Kalash rally for the farmers who lost their lives in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.”

He added that the government will also support farmers to hold a rally in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan on Sunday, without any political person sharing the stage.

“On November 28, we will support the farmers’ rally which is to be held in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan. However, no political person will share the stage,” Malik said.

He added, “Various demands of farmers including the law on Minimum Support Prices (MSP) are still pending. One demand that should be supported by all is of giving Rs 1 crore compensation to kin of farmers who sacrificed their lives during the protest.”

Even after Prime Minister Modi announced the repeal of three-farm laws, farmers won’t budge from the national capital and have put forward demands towards the central government, which includes the sacking of MoS (Home) Ajay Mishra whose son Ashish Mishra is an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri.

Eight people, including farmers, were killed in the violence that occurred in Lakhimpur on October 3. Ashish, son of Ajay Mishra, is among the 13 arrested in connection with the deaths. All the victims were mowed down by a convoy of three vehicles, including a Mahindra Thar SUV owned by Ajay Mishra.

The Prime Minister had also announced that the government will constitute a committee to work on a new framework for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
