Male Nurse Rapes COVID-19 Patient In MP Hospital; She Dies In 24 Hours

Mumbai: A male nurse allegedly raped a COVID-19 patient at a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, police said on Thursday. The 43-year-old woman died within 24 hours of the incident, which took place last month.

The 43-year-old woman was undergoing treatment at the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre on April 6.

The woman complained of the incident and her condition deteriorated shortly afterwards. The woman named the accused in a statement to a doctor. He was identified as Santosh Ahirwar.

According to reports, after the condition of the woman worsened, she was sent on a ventilator. She breathed her last that evening. After the woman narrated her ordeal to the doctor, a case was registered at the Nishatpura police station.

Senior police officer Irshad Wali said the woman made an application to the police, requesting that her identity be protected and the incident should not be disclosed to anyone. Wali added, “That is why the information was not shared with anyone except the investigating team. ”

The woman was allegedly raped by a 24-year-old male nurse. NDTV reported that in the past, the accused were suspended on the charge of drinking alcohol while on duty.
