Mamata Banerjee Ends Dharna

Mumbai: The Dharna which was started on Sunday night by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has come to an end, this came after CBI’s attempt to arrest Kolkata Police Commisoner Rajeev Kumar.

Coming next week she will fight aganist the central government to Delhi she said.

Addressing the people gathered here, Banerjee said that, ” This Dharna is a victory for the Consitituton and democracy. So let us end it today. When we started this dharna, we consulted all the political parties and after that they extended their full support.”

Meanwhile Andra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu said, “We will not stop here, we will continue it till they stop this harassement. NDA government wants to divide India, we want to unite India.”

The Saradha Group financial scandal and the Rose Valley financial scandal came to light during her tenure and some of her cabinet ministers were accused of money laundering and have been incarcerated. Mamata has been criticised by opposition parties for not taking adequate steps against her own ministers who tried to cover-up their deeds.

Banerjee has previously served twice as the Minister of Railways, the first woman to do so.
She is also the first female Minister of Coal, and Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Youth Affairs, Sports, Women and Child Development in the cabinet of the Indian government.
