Mumbai: Cricket bookie Mahesh Hero Khemlani who was arrested by the crime branch is in the news again. A case of sexual assault was filed at Versova police station on Friday.
The police said that the woman complainant and her boyfriend had put up at a suburban hotel. On August 2, Khemlani, a friend of the woman’s boyfriend, came to meet them at the hotel. The woman’s boyfriend and the Khemlani were in one corner of the room, having a drink. Around 7 am when the woman asked them to stop drinking, Khemlani got angry and abused her and allegedly tried to force himself on her, said the police. When the woman protested, he slapped her
Her complaint stated that when her boyfriend came to her rescue, Khemlani pushed him. She then pushed Khemlani out of the room and lodged a complaint six days later, on August 8, said the police.
Khemlani had been arrested from a hotel in May for allegedly betting on an IPL match.
