Man Tampers With Passport To Hide Thailand Trips From Wife, Arrested At Mumbai Airport

Mumbai: A passenger was detained at Mumbai International Airport on Thursday, July 11, after immigration officials discovered that he had tampered with 12 pages of his passport to conceal previous travel records to Bangkok and Thailand. The passenger, identified as Tushar Pawar, 33, was subsequently arrested by the Sahar police.

According to a report by the Times of India, Pawar confessed to altering his passport to avoid a confrontation with his wife, who was unaware of his three earlier trips to Thailand in 2023 and 2024. Pawar, a graduate operating a logistics business, resides with his family in Satara.

Pawar was on an official trip to Thailand with a client when he was detained. He is now in judicial custody and has been booked for cheating under the Indian Passport Act. An officer from the Sahar police station stated that the tampering was discovered during a routine check by immigration officials.

The case highlights the stringent measures in place at airports to detect and prevent passport fraud. Authorities have urged travellers to adhere to legal guidelines and warned that any attempts to falsify travel documents will be met with serious consequences.
