Married Delhi Woman Raped By Cab Driver Inside Vehicle While Returning From Work

Mumbai: A married woman, who is a Delhi resident, was raped by a cab driver inside the vehicle while returning from work, police said. The driver asked the woman, who is an employee of an apparel brand, to board the front seat and leave the rear seats for other passengers.

A case was registered against a cab driver for allegedly raping a woman of an apparel brand at a prominent mall on the Mehrauli-Gurugram road on the pretext of giving her a lift at her residence, police said.

Gurugram Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said they flagged off a cab near the bus stop on MG Road and the driver asked them to climb into the front seat. “The driver asked him to leave the rear seats for the other passengers. He parked the car at a secluded place and raped her in the cab.”

Police said that the cab driver dropped him at the Aya Nagar border. The woman approached the police on Thursday and lodged a complaint with the DLF Phase-2 police station.

In her complaint, the woman said that the driver raped her and threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm.

Boken said the woman had left the workplace at around 8 pm and was sitting in the cab around 8.15 pm. Before leaving, the driver returned her purse and mobile phone, which she used to call her husband.

Following the complaint, a medical examination was conducted and a case under sections 376 (rape) and 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the unidentified cab driver at the DLF Phase-II police station.
