Massive Fire Breaks Out At Pune Chemical Plant, 7 Dead Over 10 Missing

Mumbai: At least five workers were killed and a dozen others went missing on Monday after a massive fire broke out at a chemical company located in an industrial area in the Pune district.

At least six fire tenders were dispatched to the SVS Aqua Technologies’ plant in the Pirangut MIDC area of ​​Mulshi tehsil to douse the fire, according to PMRDA (Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority) fire department officials.

“We have so far recovered five bodies and a search for the others employees is underway,” said Devendra Potphode, chief fire officer, PMRDA Fire Services.

He said the firm is into manufacturing, supply and export of air, water and surface treatment chemicals.
