Maulana Masood Azhar Dead?

Mumbai: Unconfirmed Media reports state that Maulana Masood Azhar has died in Islamabad on Saturday. However, Pakistan is yet to officially announce and confirm his death.

On March 1 in an interview with CNN, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has confirmed that Azhar was in his country and was really very not well. Just two days after his interview, news has flash over Azhar’s death.

Rumours were flashing about his death due to air strike bomb blast by Indian Air Force (IAF) on Balakot, Pakistan which is the largest training centre of Jaish e Muhammad.

Whereas Hamid Mir, a journalist from Pakistan tweeted saying, ‘Masood Azhar is still alive’.

India has been demanding to place Masood Azhar appoint as Global Terrorist by the United Nations (UN). Azhar was the one who influenced for a suicide bomb blast in Pulwama that lead death of 40 CRPF soldiers and Jaish e Muhammad claims himself responsible for the attack.

With a Portuguese passport, Masood Azhar had entered Jammu and Kashmir. Later he inveterate contact with numbers of terror groups. In 1994 on charges of terrorism he was imprisoned by India.

In 1999, flight from Kathmandu to New Delhi IC 814 was hijacked on Christmas. In due course, it had to land in Kandahar, the southern part of Afghanistan. Ibrahim Athar was one of the hijackers reported to be Azhar’s younger brother. For eight days, passengers were detained by them. This horror watch came to an end only when New Delhi accede to release Masood Azhar and other 3 terrorists.

Security analyst, Amir Rana who carried research on militant groups told that Masood Azhar after getting freed he met with Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden who was later killed by US Navy SEALs and Taliban founder Mullah Mohammad Omar in Afghanistan.

Shortly after when he was freed from jail, Azhar made a public announcement stating to around 10,000 people in Karachi, Pakistan, ‘ I’ve come here to tell you that we should not rest in peace until we have destroyed India’.

In 2000, Azhar formed Jaish e Muhammad. In 2001, on 13 December the same militants attacked the Indian parliament bringing the death of 10 people. Once again, India and Pakistan were departed by the immoral act by the Pakistani militants.

In 2016, the same militants were the mastermind of 2nd January Pathankot terror attack on Air Force station which leads to the death of 1 civilian and 7 security personnel while 4-5 attackers were also dead.

India is trying it’s hard to mark Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN Security Council. The step has been hunk by Pakistan’s all-time friend China. Developed nations like the US, Britain, France were bearing in mind to announce Azhar as Global Terrorist by the only obstacle can be faced by is China.
