MHA Permitted For Double COVID-19 Testing In Delhi: Satyendra Jain

Mumbai: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Friday that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has allowed double testing in the national capital.

He also said that earlier CM Arvind Kejriwal had instructed to double the COVID-19 test but officials were not doing so due to pressure from the Home Ministry.

“The Chief Minister of Delhi directed to double the COVID-19 test, but due to pressure from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the officials were not doing so. I am happy that after my letter, the MHA has clarified and approved it and I hope the test will double soon,” Jain told ANI.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs should first look into COVID-19 cases in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and the rest of India, then talk about the management of Delhi. This is unfortunate that despite Delhi CM’s approval for doubling the testing, the order had to be cleared by MHA also,” he added.

However, the MHA on Thursday strongly denied the allegations leveled by the Delhi government, who claimed that the Union Home Ministry was not allowing them to raise the COVID-19 test limit per day.

The Health Minister said that 167,604 people have been infected so far, of which 150,027 have been cured. He said that about 90 percent of people have been recovered in the national capital.
