Military Installations In Jammu Put On High Alert, Mehbooba Mufti Says Something Big May Happen In Kashmir

Mumbai: On the increasingly tense situation in Kashmir, politicians have left nothing unsaid about their opinions on the happenings in Kashmir.

“This is not normal. The people of Jammu and Kashmir need to hear from their Government. Parents need to know whether their children are safe in schools. Traders should know whether their shops should be open.

Doctors should know whether they should be on emergency stand-by.” Said Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on the situation in J&K.

Meanwhile, the BJP Unit in Kashmir accuses Congress, PDP and NC of trying to spread fear in Kashmir. “Some politicians in the valley are knocking the door of the Governor (Satya Pal Malik) in the dead of night because they are frightened…The governor had also made it clear that those who are corrupt cannot save themselves. Those who have ill intentions, involved in betrayal and looted the money of poor people and filled their coffers are a worried lot,” BJP’s state unit president, Ravinder Raina told reporters.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik Says “There is nothing to worry. It is our responsibility to take care of the tourists and yatris. No tourist in Kashmir has ever been harassed, my message to people is to stay calm and nothing drastic is going to happen to my knowledge. There is no need to fear. Political parties have their own problems since elections are near. Every ritual will happen as planned.”

Mehbooba Mufti Says Something Big May Happen in Kashmir, “The way tourists, NIT students are asked to leave and army and security forces are on high alert, it indicates that something big is going to happen. If People of Jammu and Kashmir come together then no one can touch special position given to J&K,” she said.

Pilgrims are being evacuated from the state while the people of Kashmir are being told that there is no need to panic in the current situation.

Pilgrims of the tourists and Amarnath pilgrims started leaving the Kashmir Valley on Saturday following the advice of the state government so that the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik said that they do not need to panic. The advice to leave regarding the possibility of terrorist attacks cited security concerns and intelligence.

Amidst the rumour of a plan to repeal Articles 370 and 35A, which allows the state to be granted special status and privileges, Malik said the administration had no knowledge of any change in constitutional provisions.
