Mobile App To Be Used For Collecting 2021 Census Data: Amit Shah

Mumbai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Monday that the 2021 census will be conducted through mobile phones, which will promote Digital India, moving away from traditional pen and paper.

The nationwide exercise will be conducted in 16 languages ​​and at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore, he said after the Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner laid the foundation stone for a new building.

Shah said the census date would be March 1, 2021, but for snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand would be October 1, 2020.

“Census data will be collected through a mobile app. This is the first time that a mobile app will be used for census practice. India will move from pen and paper census to digital data, which will be a major revolution. Census exercise of the country, ”he said.

“India’s total of 130 crore population should be informed about its benefits. How census data can be used for future planning, development and welfare schemes. Census data is multifaceted and the country’s Will contribute significantly to the progress, ”said Shah.

Shah went on saying that the census will help in demarcating boundaries of municipal wards, assemblies and Lok Sabha constituencies

He appealed to the authorities to conduct the census to carry out this practice with complete sincerity as it is an opportunity for them to perform ‘Punya’ (sacred deeds), which will help in nation-building.

Shah said that earlier the government used to run welfare schemes and no comprehensive plans were made by the previous governments.

He said that the whole outlook had changed when Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014. Attitudes have been completely changed, thinking has been changed. Goals have been set to eliminate problems completely.

The Home Minister said based on the 2011 census, the Modi government had planned 22 welfare schemes to open electricity connections, gas connections, construction of roads, houses for the poor, toilets, bank accounts and bank branches in every household…

“By 2022, there will not be a family which will not have a gas connection,” he said.

The Home Minister said that India’s population is 17.5 per cent of the total population of the world while the geographical area is just 2.4 per cent of the total geographical area of ​​the world.

“Therefore, naturally, natural resources are limited compared to the population in India. Therefore, to fill this gap of inequality, we have to work hard,” he said.

Shah also said that for the National Population Register (NPR), the list of common residents of the country will also be collected along with the census exercise.

Officials said that the NPR could be the basis of an all-India edition of the National Civil Register (NRC) of Assam.
