Modi Government Is Working to Make Tax Payment People-Friendly: Nirmala Sitharam

Mumbai: Indian Finance Minister on Friday while addressing the press conference said that the Modi Government was working towards developing a mechanism in order to make tax payment a people-friendly process. She further added that the government was making a faceless yet friendly platform for the taxpayers.

In this new system, the tax officers couldn’t harass the taxpayers as they used to do it. Once the system is set up the issue notices, summons, letters only through a centralised system. Each of the cases will be provided with a unique ID number. She also added that the department will also fix timelines for the disposal of Income Tax notices so that people not harassed by people.

She also addressed the old cases “All old income tax notices will be decided by October 1, 2019, or will be uploaded again through the system. From October 1, all notices will be disposed of within three months from the date of reply.” Said the Finance Minister. “Our government has kept reform at the top of our agenda, since 2014.

We are maintaining the reform momentum, be it regarding self-certification or labour reforms or environmental clearance.”

As the concerns about the lowering GDP and weakening economy increased the Finance minister called a meeting with all the top executives from all the industries to discuss their issues. Later on, a press conference was called in Delhi.
