More Testing Laboratories Are Required, Quick Preventive Measures: Maha CM Thackeray To PM Modi

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, during a video-conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, emphasized the need to increase the number of coronavirus testing laboratories in the country.

Thackeray also said that India needs to accelerate precautionary steps to prevent the coronavirus epidemic from entering Phase III when there is a rapid increase in the number of patients.

There are 52 coronavirus positive cases in Maharashtra so far, while one Kovid-19 patient died in Mumbai this week. India is currently in Phase 2 of coronavirus transmission and the pace of measures to combat the virus should be accelerated to prevent Phase 3 of transmission, he said.

The former BJP ally also told Modi that people have responded positively to the Prime Minister’s appeal for a ‘Janata curfew’.

“The Maharashtra government has taken adequate steps to stop the spread of the virus. Although the number of patients is small at present, given the spread of the disease, we should not be under any illusion (it will not increase much)” said the Chief Minister .

Although international flights will not land in the country from 22 March, by then around 25,000 passengers will return to the country and need treatment or treatment.
