MP Navneet Rana Took Loan Of ₹80 Lakh From Builder Yusuf Lakdawala: Sanjay Raut

Mumbai: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has alleged that Maharashtra’s Amravati MP Navneet Rana took a loan of ₹80 lakh from builder and film financier Yusuf Lakdawala, who died in jail in 2021.

Describing it as a matter of national security, Raut asked when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) would interrogate him.

Raut said that Lakdawala was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case of Rs 200 crore and had links with D-Company. He died in September 2021 at Arthur Road Jail.

When asked about the claims made by Raut, Rizwan Merchant, counsel for Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana, said that every baseless and absurd allegation backed by political motive does not require a response.

He said let them come out with evidence and we will deal with it.

Navneet Rana, who is embroiled in the Hanuman Chalisa controversy in Maharashtra, on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Nagpur Police demanding the registration of a case against Sanjay Raut under the SC/ST Act for some of his remarks.

In her complaint, the Lok Sabha MP from Amravati, who claims to be a Dalit, referred to a press conference in which Raut had called her and her MLA-husband Ravi Rana who is also under arrest, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ and ‘420’ (cheater).

She wrote to the Delhi Police chief seeking action against Sanjay Raut for using racist slurs and discriminatory statements.

Both had called for reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside ‘Matoshree’, the private residence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Saturday.

Thet eventually abandoned his plan but was arrested by the Mumbai Police and booked under various sections of the IPC, including those related to sedition and promoting enmity between different groups.
