MP: Six-Year-Old Girl Raped, Her Eyes Damaged By Accused

Mumbai: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, in which her eyes were also damaged by an unknown person, PTI reported.

Police said the incident took place in a village in Jabera tehsil on Wednesday evening when the minor was playing outside his house with other children.

“At that time, an unidentified person took the girl to an isolated place and raped her there,” District Superintendent of Police, Hemant Chauhan, told PTI over the phone.

The victim was found in an abandoned room near her house, about 55 km from the district headquarters, this morning.

“We found that her eyes were damaged by the accused, who also sustained injuries on her face. We admitted the victim to a hospital in Jabera tehsil in critical condition. From there she was taken to a hospital in Jabalpur, where doctors are operating on her eyes,” Chauhan said.

Asked if her eyes were completely damaged in the incident, Chauhan said that according to a local doctor, the minor’s eyes were swollen so that he could not examine the retina.

He said that the police have started a hunt to nab the accused, who are suspected to be local residents.
