Mumbai AC Local Fares Increased By 10 %

Mumbai: The fares of AC locals operating between Virar and Churchgate will increase up to 10% as the Railway Ministry has decided to withdraw the inaugural excavation offered at its launch in 2017. It will be effective from tomorrow, June 1.

Single travel ticket from Churchgate to Mumbai Central, which costs Rs 60, will increase to 65 rupees. Similarly, rent for Weekly, Weekly and Monthly Season tickets will also increase.

A pioneer daily quoted the spokesperson of the Western Railway (WR), “Because of this decision, the fare for a single journey will be 1.3 times the cost of first-class travel in the local train.”

The spokesperson told the daily that while the difference of rent will not be collected on the already released season tickets, “in the case of difference of ticket for upgradation of first-class single travel tickets / AC single-ticket tickets/season tickets, rent the difference will be collected according to revised base fare. ”

A former member of the National Rail User Advisory Committee claimed it a bad decision, said that it will have to go away because the demand will be reduced during non-summer months. Except for Weekends, AC Train runs 12 services per day, and takes 18,000 passengers daily. WR is likely to introduce another AC train in July.
