Mumbai Bans People From Visiting Beaches, Parks From 5pm-5am Till Jan 15

Mumbai: People in Mumbai have been banned from visiting beaches, open grounds, sea faces, promenades, gardens, parks and similar public places between 5 pm and 5 am, amid Omicron spread.

“Mumbai continues to be threatened with the Covidl9 pandemic, in light of the increase in Covid19 cases and the emergence of the new Covid-l9 variant “Omicron”,” the order stated. The order will remain in force till January 15, unless withdrawn earlier.

Mumbai Police had earlier imposed Section 144 in the city from December 30 to January 7.

The Brihanmumbai Corporation (BMC) has also imposed a complete ban on New Year celebrations, parties in any closed or open space including restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, resorts and clubs from December 30 to January 7.

The capital city of Maharashtra witnessed a 46 per cent jump in Covid-19 cases on Thursday after registering 3,671 new infections, including 190 Omicron cases.

In view of the same, the Maharashtra government announced fresh curbs on attendance at weddings, social, political, religious events and funerals.
