Mumbai Boy Spends ₹10L From Mother’s Bank Account On PUBG, Runs Away From Home

Mumbai: A 16-year-old boy from Mumbai’s Jogeshwari ran away from home after his parents reprimanded him for allegedly spending ₹10 lakh through online transactions for playing PUBG, police said.

Police later traced the young girl to the Mahakali cave area in Andheri (East) on Thursday afternoon and sent her back to her parents, an official said.

The incident came to light on Wednesday evening, when the boy’s father reached the MIDC police station with a missing person complaint and since the boy was a minor, the police registered a case of kidnapping and started a search, the official said.

During the investigation, the boy’s parents informed the police that the teenager was addicted to PUBG last month and while playing on a mobile phone, he spent Rs 10 lakh from his mother’s bank account to get an ID and virtual currency to play the game, he said

The officer said that when the parents came to know about the online transaction, they scolded the boy, following which he wrote a letter and left the house.

With the help of informants and technical analysis, the crime branch team managed to trace the boy, who was sent back to his parents after counselling, he added.
