Mumbai Local: Central and Western Railway Announce Major Train Rerouting and Mega Block on February 23

Mumbai: Mumbai commuters are set to experience major train schedule changes on February 23, as Central and Western Railway have announced rerouting and maintenance blocks on key routes. The disruptions are necessary for track and signal maintenance but will lead to delays and adjustments in train operations.

Central Railway Rerouting Details

On the Thane to Kalyan route, Down Fast and Semi-Fast local trains departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Mumbai will be diverted to the Down Slow line between Thane and Kalyan stations. These trains will have additional halts at Kalva, Mumbra, and Diva stations, leading to an estimated delay of 10 minutes in reaching their final destinations.

Similarly, Up Fast and Semi-Fast trains departing from Kalyan towards CSMT will be rerouted onto the Up Slow line between Kalyan and Thane stations. These trains will halt at Diva, Mumbra, and Kalva before merging onto the Up Fast line at Mulund station, also resulting in an approximate 10-minute delay.

Western Railway’s Five-Hour Jumbo Block

Western Railway has scheduled a significant five-hour Jumbo Block on February 23 between Santacruz and Goregaon stations. This block will be in effect from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on both Up and Down Fast lines. The block is being carried out for the maintenance of tracks, signalling systems, and overhead equipment.

Trans-Harbour Line Suspension

While no blocks will be imposed on the Uran and Harbour routes, services on the Trans-Harbour line will be temporarily suspended. Up Trans-Harbour services from Panvel, Nerul, and Vashi towards Thane will be affected, with suspensions beginning from the 10:25 AM departure from Vashi and the 4:09 PM departure from Nerul. Similarly, Down Trans-Harbour services from Thane to Vashi, Nerul, and Panvel, running between 10:35 AM and 4:07 PM, will also remain non-operational during this period.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check railway updates to avoid inconvenience.
