Mumbai Mega Block: Western Railway To Have Long Rail Block From 10pm To 9am

Mumbai: Trouble for Mumbaikars, Western Railway has decided to run one of the most long rail block of 11 hours from 10 pm on February 2 to 9 am on February 3 for demolition of Delisle Road bridge.

As per reports, Since August 20 2018, WR is gradually ending the bridge. It was closed for vehicular traffic in July 2018. In particular, for the maintenance of Western Railway Rail Tracks and other related works along with Central, Mumbai operates the Mega Block on most of the weekends.

After the mega block, local train services will be completely stopped between Churchgate and Lower Parel. Reports stated that more than 200 services will be cancelled, whereas the slow local train will run till Bandra and fast local services will be run to Dadar and long distance trains coming to Mumbai will be completed in Dadar.

Ravinder Bhakar, chief public relations officer of Western Railway, while speaking to a leading daily said,”We are going to use four road cranes of 250 MT or higher capacity, a road crane of 100 MT capacity, two road hydra-cranes of 17 MT capacity, 20 gas-cutters with required consumables like gas cylinders, cutting nozzles, five tower wagons and around 150 workers.”

On February 2, the final fast local will depart at Churchgate at 9:44 am to Virar and the last slow local will leave from Churchgate at 9.39 pm for Borivali.

On the other hand, BEST buses will run between Churchgate and Dadar stations during block period. It will cover all the stations including Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Mumbai Central, Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel and Prabhadevi.
