Mumbai On High Alert After Terror Threat Warning, Security Tightened

Mumbai: Mumbai police have heightened security across key areas in the city following intelligence from central agencies about a potential terror threat. Security has been significantly increased at religious sites and public spaces with heavy foot traffic as part of preventive measures, according to police sources.

Officers have been instructed to conduct mock drills in these vulnerable locations to ensure preparedness. On Friday, a mock drill was held at Crawford Market, a busy hub housing two major religious sites, to test the city’s emergency response capabilities.

Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have been assigned to closely monitor security in their respective zones, while temples and other places of worship have been advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

Officials clarified that these security measures are not only in response to the intelligence reports but are also part of routine preparations for the upcoming festive season. Mumbai is gearing up for major celebrations, including Durga Puja, Dussehra, and Diwali, as well as the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly elections scheduled for November.

With large gatherings expected during the festivals and political rallies, Mumbai police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure public safety. The heightened security aims to safeguard the city’s busiest areas and protect citizens during this high-alert period.
